SAFETY CAR, SI TORNA ALLE REGOLE DEL 2006 27.01.09 - A partire dal primo Gp del Mondiale 2009 di Formula 1 ci sarà un nuovo regolamento per la safety car. "Siamo tornati al 2006, ma con una differenza: bisognerà attendere un tempo minimo prima di rientrare ai box", il commento di Charlie Whiting, delegato alla sicurezza della FIA.
La pit-lane verrà aperta appena la vettura scenderà in pista mentre i piloti potranno tornare ai box dopo un periodo di tempo che verrà comunicato dai direttori di corsa.

Da quello che ho capito leggendo su altri siti (in inglese), la regola non è così semplice da come viene spiegata qui. Così è come la espone Charlie Whiting: "The rule introduced in 2007 was a bad one, and we?ve gone back to the 2006 regulations. The only difference is we intend to implement a minimum time back to the pits.
When we deploy the safety car, the message will go to all the cars, which will then have a ?safety car? mode on their ECUs. As soon as that message gets to the car, it?ll know where it is on the circuit, and it?ll calculate a minimum time for the driver to get back to the pits. The driver will have to respect this and the information will be displayed on his dashboard.
If you remember, the reason we closed the pit entry was to remove the incentive for the driver to come back to his pit quickly. That?s gone now, as you won?t be able to reach the pits any quicker than your dashboard display allows you to."
Appena verrà decretato il regime di safety car, verrà inviato un segnale a tutte le vetture che metterà la centralina del motore su una mappatura appropriata. Poi in base alla posizione sul circuito dell'auto verrà dato al pilota un tempo entro il quale non potrà entrare ai box. Mi sembra un'ulteriore complicazione... Sicuramente è meglio della regola che c'è stata fino all'anno scorso, ma non so quanto noi spettatori riusciremo a capire di quello che sta succedendo. Stec:
